La nappe bleue, non dated Oil on canvas 58 x 80 cm
In the aftermath of WWII, Théodore continued to develop his sculptural approach to still life through the use of colour. Books, flowers, fruit, musical instruments and crockery were his main subject matter. Forms tended to become deconstructed and lose their contours. Objects became more abstract, making way for a new balance based on dominant and intense tones of blues and oranges.
