Strawinsky’s masterpiece in the Christ-Roi Church was inaugurated twenty years after the building was consecrated. He im-plemented the glass slab technique (pieces of glass set in a matrix of con-crete). The entire decora-tion mandate was attribu-ted to him by the works commission, presided over by Cardinal Journet, who had ruled out the idea of holding a compe-tition. This gave rise to controversy since the artist was not a native of Fribourg. Philippe Kaenel
